Yesterday, it was reported that the influencer that was arrested, Shalini Periasamy, in relation to the late Esha’s cyberbullying case had pleaded guilty to the charge of using abusive words to provoke anger and was fined RM100.
Considering the cyberbullying incident ended in the loss of Esha’s life, many, including Esha’s family, are finding it hard to accept that the influencer got off almost scot-free.
BuletinTV3 took to their TikTok page to share Esha’s mum’s disappointment over the RM100 fine, adding that it’s something she cannot accept.
“I am also surprised, only RM100. This time, it’s me. Next time, who will be the victim? Whose child is going to be the victim? I don’t know, only God knows. That’s the only thing that’s making me heartbroken,” Esha’s mum, R. Puspa shared.
Many Malaysians echoed her sentiments, believing the punishment did no justice for the crime.
“Not only is her mother unsatisfied, we as the people are also unsatisfied.”
“Only RM100? No wonder she can catwalk out of the courthouse. Try fining her RM100,000, she’ll cover her face as she walks out.”
“After this, more people will become daring to do it (cyberbullying) because the punishment is only RM100.”
“The whole of Malaysia is unsatisfied, it’s only RM100. What is up with Malaysian law? Who is the judge? Even by littering, you can get fined RM2,000.”
