Late night rave in Little Snoring shut down by police

There was little sleep in the small Norfolk village of Little Snoring after residents were kept awake by a noisy illegal rave that was eventually shut down by police.

Five people were arrested after Norfolk Police swooped on the event near Thursford Road shortly after 1am on Sunday and seized “numerous” vehicles, generators and sound equipment.

The five people were arrested in connection with the event for offences including drug driving, drink driving, possession of a class A with intent to supply and carrying on a licensable activity without a licence.

Social media users complained that the music was audible from the nearby village of Great Snoring.

Officers closed the entrance to prevent additional people from attending and monitored the event throughout the early hours of the morning.

An investigation has been launched to identify who organised the event.

Superintendent Craig Miller said: “We are committed to doing everything we can to prevent, disrupt and stop these events from taking place, while reducing their impact on local communities.

“I would like to thank the landowner and members of the local community for their patience and understanding while we worked to shut down the event as quickly and safely as possible.

“Unauthorised music events such as this can cause significant disruption and often result in damage to the natural environment. As they are not required to meet recognised safety standards, they can also place attendees at risk.

“Our work does not end with the closure of the event, and investigations into those responsible and the circumstances surrounding it will continue.”
