In my previous post, I said that we must expect the Negeri Sembilan political crisis to get worse before it gets better. Well, it is getting worse.

How worse ?

Well, remember that this crisis first started as a dispute over the throne and crown of Negeri Sembilan. After that, as you all probably already know by now, it spread and brought down the Negeri Sembilan state government. Now it looks like it might bring down the federal government too.

Enough with the suspense, Nehru, get with the story you say.

Fine.

Here is the story.

The first sign that the Negeri Sembilan crisis is getting worse is that Dap youth has called for Tok Mat, the Umno number 2, to be fired from his post as the foreign Affairs Minister.

Why ?

Well it seems that Tok Mat is siding with the UMNO-PN Aduns in Negeri Sembilan to bring down MB Aminuddin's government, and DAP will just not have it.

Who can blame DAP right. DAP won 40 seats in GE15, but it is Umno that got the better post and positions in the government, although Umno just managed to win 26 seats.

Umno has got positions like the deputy prime minister, foreign affairs minister, defense minister, international trade minister while the best that DAP could do is Anthony Loke''s transport portfolio.

Despite getting the better deal, that Umno is still trying to take what little DAP is really annoying DAP.

DAP by the way, has 11 of the 17 PH adun seats in Negeri Sembilan. If Aminuddin's state government fall, it will be DAP more than PKR that will be the biggest losers.

At this stage, I think DAP has had enough of being the party that brings the most meat to the table and causes the least problem, but is the one that has to suffer again and again from everyone - from Umno to Anwar to Tok Mat's lack of appreciation of its contributions and sacrifice.

Other than the problem with DAP, Umno also seems to be a house divided because of the Negeri Sembilan crisis. While Tok Mat and Jalaluddin Alias, the de facto chief of the 14 Umno Aduns, are busy trying to overthrow the Aminuddin's state government, the Umno leadership at the national level is trying salvage it's relationship with its partners in Putrajaya, in the most bewildering fashion.

Zahid Hamidi, Umno's president had earlier said that though the knew about Umno N9's desire to launch a coup before hand, it was Umno N9 that launched the coup without his go ahead. So he has knowledge, but did not give authorization, but the coup went ahead anyway ? Does that make sense to anyone?

If you thought that Zahid's statement was bewildering enough, now Umno sec-gen Asyraf Dusuki is coming out with another bewildering statement, saying that while Umno understands the reason for Umno N9 withdrawing support for Aminuddin's state goverment and precipitating it's fall, Umno still supports the reign of Aminuddin, although it is not going to ask its 14 Negeri Sembilan aduns to withdraw it's withdrawal of support or reinstate it's support of Aminuddin's government. So Umno is basically supporting Aminuddin's reign without supporting it and withdrawing its support for it while maintaining support of it. Hey, if you don't understand my English here, it is not my English here that is the problem. You don't understand it because even Umno probably doesn't understand the words that are coming out of its mouth.

And just because the problem in Negeri Sembilan alone was not vexing enough, Free Malaysia Today has also put its thumb on the scale and joined the confusing fray by saying that voters in Negeri Sembilan don't want a snap election to be held to break the deadlock. How does FMT know the heart and mind of the N9 voters ? Well, supposedly , it spoke to some Negeri Sembilan voters to come to the conclusion.

Go figure.

If this be the case, why not we just disband the election commission and do away with elections altogether.

A state election is an expensive affair by the way - according to reports, it will cost the taypayer as much as much RM 150 million per state.

Why spend so much and go through all that trouble, when you can just get FMT to make a few phone calls to know what is on the heart and mind of voters.

Anyway, this is the latest update as to the mess in Negeri Sembilan.

If you don't understand it, it means you have understood it, because there is nothing to understand here.

All you need to understand is that Negeri Sembilan is in absolute mess right now, and the signs are pointing to it getting even messier before it becomes tidy again.

That is all for now. Stay tuned for more.
