A man and a woman in Latvia have been sentenced to prison for spying for neighbouring Russia, local media reported on Friday.
The court in Riga found both guilty of gathering and passing on confidential information.
The Latvian news agency Leta reported that the man must serve six years in prison, while the woman received a five-year sentence. The verdict is not yet final.
The man, who had previously been convicted of spying in a separate case, was accused of having asked a fellow prisoner to find out the names of other people suspected of espionage.
He is alleged to have subsequently received personal details of three people, which the co-defendant woman is said to have passed on during a trip to Russia.
Latvia, a Baltic member of the EU and NATO, borders Russia and its ally Belarus to the east.
