Debuting alongside the manic G90 M5 at My BMW World 2025 is the 2025 model year version of the G87-gen BMW M2.

Debuting alongside the manic G90 BMW M5 at the ongoing My BMW World 2025 is yet another updated BMW M model, namely the 2025 BMW M2. For the 2025 model year (2025 MY) update, this two-door performance coupe gets an uprated powertrain setup while retaining the same equipment list as the previous model.

Fully-imported (CBU) from BMW Group’s Mexico plant, the 2025 BMW M2 currently retails at RM650,800, which includes a standard two-year vehicle warranty. Opting for the BMW Service & Repair Inclusive (BSRI), which adds a five-year extended warranty and service package, raises its price tag to RM693,100.

The upgrade sees the M2’s iconic 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six S58 engine now deliver 473 hp and 600 Nm, thus marking a 20 hp and 50 Nm peppier than the pre-updated model. Similarly, the S58 lump is still mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox (no six-speed manual for our market) that facilitates power delivery to the rear wheels (RWD).

Thanks to this slight power boost, the new M2 can now sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in four seconds flat, while its V-max is still capped at 250 km/h, making it 0.1 seconds faster than its predecessor in a straight line.

The remaining M-specific performance bits are largely carried over from the pre-updated model, which includes the adaptive M suspension system, an M Sport differential, M Compound brakes with red-hued callipers, and the M Drive Professional drive mode system.

The same M design bits can also be seen on this updated M2, including the staggered M light alloy wheels measuring 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. These M alloys are joined by the M Lights Shadowline package, M carbon roof, and M high-gloss Shadowline package.

On board, the updated M2 continues to get the same M design treatment as before, plus some minor design tweaks. Key highlights include the M Sport semi-bucket front seats wrapped in Vernasca leather upholstery, M seatbelts, a slew of carbon fibre trims and accents, an anthracite headliner, illuminated M metal door sills, and an M leather steering wheel with paddle shifters.

Despite these sporty bits, the new M2 still gets some creature comforts such as the BMW Live Cockpit Professional setup featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a larger 14.9-inch central infotainment screen, Connected Package Professional with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and many more.
