In a groundbreaking move that rivals all other pressing issues in Malaysia, we now find ourselves contemplating the separation of clothing based on religious affiliations at the local laundromat.
Because clearly, in the grand scheme of things, nothing says national unity like segregated washing machines.
The Sun & Moon4view TikTok page, always at the forefront of hard-hitting news, recently uncovered the shocking truth that some Malaysians might actually want to wash their clothes without worrying about the religious identity of their washing machine.
The horror!
One can't help but wonder, is this a strategic move by JAKIM, the laundry police, to prepare us for a future where even money has religious affiliations? Muslim money and non-Muslim money, because apparently, currency is the next frontier in the battle for religious segregation.
The video revealed a laundry room with signs meticulously categorizing machines into Muslim and non-Muslim zones, leaving us to question whether our appliances are now arbiters of religious harmony. Because nothing fosters unity like a carefully labelled washing machine.
And let's not overlook the sheer generosity of offering just one non-Muslim washer and dryer amidst the abundance of Muslim options. Because, you know, diversity and inclusion are best experienced in the laundry room.
Some defended this groundbreaking laundry apartheid by suggesting non-Muslim clothes might harbour dog fur, apparently the ultimate threat to religious harmony. Clearly, sharing a washing machine means risking an influx of canine contamination.
In a nation grappling with real issues, like racial tensions and social inequalities, it's comforting to know that the laundry room is where we choose to draw the line.
After all, who needs harmony when you can have separate washers for Muslims and non-Muslims?
It is truly a beacon of progress for Malaysia whenever you travel on your next #CutiCutiLocal look out for that laundromat with Muslim and non Muslim label and know that our washing machines understand apartheid!
