KOTA KINABALU: The legal team representing the family of Zara Qairina Mahathir has emphasised that the ongoing solidarity gathering is not connected to any political party.
They said the event is solely dedicated to seeking justice for the 13-year-old schoolgirl, whose case continues to touch the hearts of many.
The lawyers, comprises Hamid Ismail and Shahlan Jufri together with four others, noted that the spirit of the gathering is to honour Zara’s memory and to keep the focus on her rather than political interests.
A month after Zara was found unconscious on the ground floor of her dormitory in Papar, the movement has drawn tens of thousands across the country in a remarkable show of unity.
The call for justice has since extended beyond Malaysia, resonating with supporters in neighbouring Asean countries and other parts of the world.
