KUALA LUMPUR — PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan has expressed confidence that voters in the Layang-Layang state seat are seeking progress, stability and a better future under the MADANI Government in the upcoming Johor state election.

He said the strong turnout and visible backing from supporters, volunteers and campaign teams who accompanied Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Guna Balakrishnan to the nomination centre at the Layang-Layang Community Hall reflected a campaign driven by public aspirations for change, Bernama reported.

“The nomination process went smoothly. More importantly, the spirit of our campaign machinery never wavered. Even after the nomination process concluded, they remained by our side, chanting words of encouragement and giving our candidate their full support.

“Now the battle has begun. Our sole focus is to secure victory for PH in the Layang-Layang state constituency,” he said in a Facebook post.

Ramanan also urged campaign workers to maintain close engagement with voters throughout the campaign period, stressing the importance of translating ground support into votes on polling day on July 11.

The Layang-Layang seat will see a three-cornered contest involving PH candidate Guna Balakrishnan, incumbent Abd Mutalip Abd Rahim of Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Chua Jian Boon of Barisan Nasional (BN).

Abd Mutalip secured the seat in the 2022 Johor state election with a 2,815-vote majority in a four-cornered contest.

Polling day has been set for July 11, with early voting scheduled for July 7. - June 27, 2026
