KOTA KINABALU: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has voiced strong support for the Chief Minister’s proposed assistance programmes, which include monthly aid for citizens, targeted support for senior citizens and deposit help for first-time homebuyers.

LDP President Datuk Chin Su Phin (pic) said the initiatives show a practical effort to ease household pressures and reflect the State Government’s focus on everyday needs.

He said the proposals are supported by ongoing negotiations on Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement, noting that the State received a record RM600 million Special Grant this year, signalling improved financial capacity.

Chin cautioned that expecting the full 40% entitlement to be delivered within months is unrealistic, saying any payment schedule would need to be phased over several years based on the final formula agreed with the Federal Government.

He added that LDP backs the Chief Minister’s approach, saying responsible planning is necessary and that improved revenue will allow the State to expand welfare, housing and community programmes in the coming years.
