Kota Kinabalu: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice President Sim Fui has voiced support for Tanjung Keramat Assemblyman Datuk Shahelmey Yahya for taking a principled stance during the failed “Langkah Kinabalu” political manoeuvre in Jan 2023.
“Shahelmey’s refusal to betray the people’s mandate reflects integrity and respect for democracy — values the LDP has always championed,” said Sim in a statement, Wednesday.
He stressed that political stability remains critical for Sabah’s recovery, particularly as many businesses and families are still facing economic hardship in the post-MCO era.
Sim praised the ongoing efforts of the GRS-PH government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, especially initiatives to strengthen state reserves, revive the oil and gas sector, resolve water and electricity issues and create quality job opportunities“The failure of ‘Langkah Kinabalu’ is a clear reminder: the people’s mandate is sacred and must not be sacrificed for political gain,” he said.
Sim called on all leaders to focus on economic recovery, address structural issues, and uphold public trust through a stable and united government.
