Kota Kinabalu: The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) paid a courtesy visit to State Education, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk James Ratib to exchange views and strengthen cooperation on education and human capital development in Sabah.

The delegation was led by Party President Datuk Chin Su Phin and included Nominated Assemblyman Datuk Chin Shu Ying, Vice President David Ong, Robert Chong, Women Movement Leader Glenna Wong and Supreme Council Member Nilson Lo.

Among the issues discussed was the new policy allowing children aged five and six to enter Primary One, which both sides acknowledged may pose challenges to kindergartens that could face a drop in enrolment.

During the meeting, Ying proposed that the State Government consider providing temporary financial assistance to private kindergartens that may face financial strain as a result of the policy change.

James also shared views on various education and workforce-related concerns affecting Sabah, while LDP welcomed the Minister’s openness to dialogue and continued cooperation on education development.
