KOTA KINABALU: Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Vice President David Ong has urged the Federal Government to ensure that at least one-third of officers in every federal ministry and board members of government-linked companies (GLCs) are from Sabah and Sarawak.

He said the call is not about special treatment but about restoring fairness and equality among the three founding partners of Malaysia — Malaya, Sabah, and Sarawak.

“Many national policies are made without understanding the realities in Sabah and Sarawak. Officers who truly know local challenges must be part of the decision-making process,” he said.

Ong added that equal representation in ministries and GLCs would ensure fairer national planning and spending, reflecting the interests of the entire federation.
