SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — 18 out of 40 disabled persons secured employment after passing interviews at the Jobcare Istimewa programme on Monday (October 28).

State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication V. Papparaidu said those eligible included nine individuals with learning disabilities, five with physical disabilities, three deaf individuals, and one with multiple disabilities.

“A total of 40 disabled persons tried their luck yesterday, and 18 have already secured jobs in various sectors. In addition, an Orang Asli resident and a former prisoner were also offered employment.

“The programme prioritises vulnerable groups in finding employment. We do not want them to feel uncomfortable when seeking jobs and competing with fully able-bodied individuals,” he told SelangorKini.

Papparaidu added that the inaugural programme also enabled 167 other individuals to secure jobs, with an additional 253 set to undergo a second interview.
