Israel has attacked Lebanon almost 3,500 times since a ceasefire in the conflict was announced in April, according to official Lebanese figures.

The figure was announced by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam following a Cabinet meeting in Beirut on Monday. He said the figure covers Israeli violations of the ceasefire, which came into force on April 17, up to last Sunday.

Around 30 soldiers from the national army and almost 20 other security personnel have been killed since the Iran war started at the end of February, prompting the renewed escalation in Lebanon, Salam’s office said.

According to official figures, more than 3,500 people have been killed and more than 10,000 others injured in Lebanon since then.

The Israeli research centre Alma says the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, for its part, has attacked Israeli targets nearly 1,000 times since the ceasefire began.

Most of these attacks targeted Israeli troops in Lebanon, and around a quarter targeted Israeli territory, the centre said.

Hezbollah was not part of the ceasefire negotiations conducted by Israeli and Lebanese government representatives.
