Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf sung the praises of Marc Cucurella after their Champions League win against Borussia Dortmund.

It meant the West London side will advance to the quarter finals 2-1 on aggregate after overturning a 1-0 deficit from the first leg.

"Finally, we have found a Chelsea team playing the way I would love the football to be played," Leboeuf, who won four major trophies at Stamford Bridge, told ESPN.

"Going forward, not just trying to get the possession but going forward, forward fast. Cucurella was fantastic."

His stance on the Spanish defender marks something of a change of heart, after Leboeuf said he was "not good enough" for Chelsea just last month, and added that the club was "crazy" to sign him.

The 55-year-old has clearly softened his view after Tuesday's win, and he was also full of praise for Kai Havertz, who scored from the spot on the night.

"He didn't play as a striker," he said of the German international, "he tried a lot, he worked a lot, technically he was perfect."
