MEMBAKUT: Renowned scholar and preacher Ustaz Abdul Somad (UAS) was appointed guest lecturer at the Islamic Studies Faculty, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).
State Islamic Affairs Exco Datuk Ariffin Arif said that the UMS Vice-Chancellor fully supported the appointment, which the faculty also proposed.
“The Islamic Studies Faculty suggested UAS as a lecturer. I also discussed the matter with the UMS Vice-Chancellor, later witnessing the appointment letter while at UMS Labuan.
“We have also had discussions about appointing him as an advisor and a member of the teaching staff at the Muis (Sabah Islamic Religious Council) International Islamic College,” he said at UAS’s keynote talk here on Wednesday.
