The Leeds United fan who assaulted Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe during last season's match Elland Road has been jailed.

The behaviour of Leeds supporter, David Derbyshire, has been branded 'unacceptable' after he made his way onto the field of play on Saturday, May 13, and shoved Howe.

He was dragged off the pitch shortly before the match finished.

Derbyshire was sentenced to a 12-week custodial sentence by a district judge at Leeds Magistrates Court, reports ChronicleLive. He has been banned from football matches for six years. After the incident, Leeds United said he was banned attending Elland Road and Leeds matches for life.
