Leeds United winger Brenden Aaronson admitted that it was tough to accept their weekend loss to Crystal Palace.

The Elland Road club traveled to Selhurst Park, took a 1-0 lead early, but were ultimately beaten 2-1 by the home side.

However, American international Aaronson felt the result was not what his side had deserved for their efforts.

“As a group it's tough to swallow," said Aaronson, per the club website.

“I felt in the first half we had a bunch of chances but we didn't punish Crystal Palace the way we wanted to.

“To come away from home and play against a good team like that and play the way we played, it's tough to suffer the defeat.

“We've been working on set pieces a lot, so it was tough to swallow that, I thought we recovered from it, but obviously they got the other goal, so it was tough.

“Whenever the other team doesn't have many chances and it's first chance, first goal, of course it's a punch in the gut.

“We didn't attack the way we did in the first half in the second half and they made it tough for us.

“We're disappointed with the result, but we have to keep our heads high in this situation and move onto the next one."
