Kota Kinabalu: The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) will ensure that the higher education sector development plan in Sabah is effectively implemented to meet workforce and development needs.

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said well-structured measures are necessary to nurture talent, develop a skilled workforce and produce educated individuals to support Sabah’s overall development.

“One of the Ministry’s key focuses is the development of community colleges and other educational institutions that can empower local human capital, in line with the State’s industrial and economic needs,” he said after a courtesy visit to Sabah Head of State Tun Musa Aman at Istana Sri Kinabalu, here, Wednesday.

Additionally, Zambry said discussions are underway to introduce specific courses, particularly in the field of law, at higher education institutions in Sabah.

“We will examine the approach and best methods for implementing legal courses.

Zambry further said that MoHE is currently reviewing an application from University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) to upgrade its institutional status and expand its academic programmes.
