The transfer of Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor's case to the Shah Alam High Court has prompted the Selayang Sessions Court to vacate all previously scheduled trial dates. The decision was made in light of the recent approval by the Shah Alam High Court to handle the case, a development communicated to the Selayang Sessions Court by deputy public prosecutor Abdul Malik Ayob.

Judge Nor Rajiah Mat Zin, presiding over the Selayang Sessions Court, explained that, following the Shah Alam High Court's decision, Muhammad Sanusi's application to postpone proceedings in the Sessions Court became irrelevant. Consequently, no decision was reached on the application, and all previously set hearing dates—spanning from February 5 to March 18—were officially vacated.

The 50-year-old Jeneri assemblyman, Muhammad Sanusi, stands accused of uttering seditious words regarding the appointment of the Selangor Menteri Besar and the establishment of the Unity Government. The alleged incident occurred at Simpang 4, Taman Selayang Mutiara-Kampung Bendahara, Gombak, around 11 pm on July 11 last year.

Legal representation for Muhammad Sanusi is provided by lawyer Mohd Tajuddin Abdul Razak. Both charges against him are framed under Section 4(1)(a) of the Sedition Act 1948, which is punishable under Section 4(1) of the same law. Upon conviction, the charges carry a maximum penalty of up to RM5,000 in fines or imprisonment for up to three years, or both.

With the case now shifted to the Shah Alam High Court, it marks a significant transition in jurisdiction. The vacated trial dates underscore the necessity for recalibrating the legal timeline and proceedings in alignment with the changed venue. Legal observers anticipate that the proceedings will resume in the Shah Alam High Court, and Muhammad Sanusi's defense team will need to adapt their strategy to the procedural nuances of the new jurisdiction.
