Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers says poor finishing cost them defeat at Southampton.

Saints won despite having a penalty saved by Foxes goalkeeper Danny Ward.

Rodgers later said: "I think we would've been disappointed to have drawn. We created enough opportunities, dominated the ball and got into some good areas. The players perform like that for the rest of the season and they'll be fine. The result is disappointing.

"I think the first 30 minutes we were excellent in how we wanted to play. Maybe the only criticism was needing a bit more finesse and a better choice of pass in the final third. Then they get the penalty. As any player will tell you, it's very hard when you're sliding for your arm not to come up so I thought it was harsh but the rules are the rules. Ward makes a great save.

"We've conceded from our own static goal-kick where we didn't get to the second or third ball quick enough and they ended up scoring. We regained control again, got into some really good areas, had some really good chances but didn't make the keeper work."
