
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Seri Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan has proposed greater autonomy for Sabah and Sarawak to set their own carbon policies, aligning with their unique needs and priorities.
"The Malaysia’s carbon policy was reported to be put in place this year. I propose that Sabah and Sarawak be allowed to set up their ownAdvertisement policies," he said while speaking at the opening of the Conference on Protecting Semporna's Marine Environment: Plastic Pollution & Fish Bombing at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC), here, Tuesday.
Speaking on Sabah’s sustainability goals, Jeffrey expressed pride in the initiatives already underway.

Among Sabah’s key commitments are increasing Totally Protected Areas to 30 per cent by 2025 and maintaining 64 per cent of the State’s land as forests.
