MANILA, Philippines — Batangas Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste on Friday hit the National Bureau of Investigation after it announced plans to file qualified human trafficking charges against him and six others over an alleged “honey trap” plot against Executive Secretary Ralph Recto.
“NBI: National Bureau of IMBENTO, inventing nonsense using taxpayers’ money while the country is submerged. What is happening in our country is pitiful,” Leviste said in a statement.
The NBI earlier said it would file the charges before the Department of Justice after completing its investigation into the alleged plot, which purportedly sought to fabricate accusations against Recto.
