Since its opening in 2017, Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson has come to be known as one of the most iconic resorts in Malaysia. Designed in the shape of our national flower (as the name suggests), the expansive 639-room resort has garnered much recognition and awards over the years.

Some of its most notable accolades include two Guinness World Records for “The Most Swimming Pools in a Resort” (643) and “The Most Overwater Villas in a Single Resort” (522); as well as six awards from World Travel Awards 2019, which includes Malaysia's Leading Resort 2019 and Asia's Leading Water Villa Resort 2019.

The list goes on, but we’ll let the resort’s impressive villas and facilities speak for themselves. Here are 12 reasons you absolutely must visit the award-winning Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson with your family, friends, colleagues and loved ones this year.

#1 Stay in spacious villas with scenic views

There’s something about a beach getaway that rejuvenates the self – and the closer you are to the beach and ocean, the better! At Lexis Hibiscus, all of its villas boast commanding views of the Straits of Malacca and convenient access to the beach. Better yet, the overwater villas are located right above the sea, offering the calming lull of waves all day long.

Each villa accommodates two king-sized beds, a flat-screen TV as well as a large bathroom with double sinks, a walk-in rain shower and separate bath tub. And we haven’t even gotten to the best part – which brings us to our next point.

#2 Enjoy your own private pool and steam room

Indisputably the greatest selling point of this resort is the private pool housed within each villa, complete with a generous lounge area and adjacent sauna. Cool off in the pool during the day and watch the stars glisten in the sky at night at your own expansive private balcony.

The Panorama Pool Villa (Sea View) we stayed in comes with VIP check-in and check-out at the Lighthouse Club, on top of exclusive access to the commodious Captain Lounge and Wave Dining restaurant. This proves convenient on weekends and peak periods where a host of guests pour into the main lobby, as we had so witnessed.

#3 Indulge in a melting pot of dining options

While the 24-hour in-room dining is great for when you feel like staying in, there’s a plethora of dining venues also ready to serve you at the resort. A quick buggy ride to the main building will lead you to not one, but four fantastic dining options.

There’s the Roselle Coffee House, an all-day dining restaurant serving local and continental cuisines over breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet spreads and an a la carte menu. If you’re looking to grab a quick bite, Coralz Bistro offers freshly baked goods and delicious sandwiches along with a selection of hot and cold beverages. It also hosts a live band in the evenings, providing a laid-back atmosphere to relax with some good company.

If you prefer to stay within air-conditioned spaces, there’s a range of indoor facilities to fulfil your needs, too. The whole point of a beach getaway is to spend time under the sun, so you might as well take advantage of the resort’s water sports facilities while you’re here. Take your pick from towable tubes like the Airhead and Banana Boat to riding a jet-ski and kayaking. Our exhilarating Airhead and jet-ski rides were two of the main highlights of our stay, if we may add – and we’re sure it’ll leave your adrenaline pumping too. Did we mention there’s also a water park?

There’s an arcade with toddler-friendly games and rides to keep them amused and a children’s playground for them to roam and play freely. The best part is, the jungle-themed Kidz World allows them to discover new experiences while under the watchful eyes of a trained caretaker in a perfectly safe environment.

#9 Pamper yourself at the spa

While the kids are having a blast, allow yourself some time off to relax and rejuvenate at LexSpa. Choose from a comprehensive menu of facials, massages, scrubs and baths and literally feel your worries melt away. We tried the LexSpa Signature Massage that combines traditional Malay, Chinese, Indian and Peranakan massage techniques and left feeling completely reenergised, with the soothing scent of coconut oil on our skin.

After a day packed with activities, a leisurely stroll along the beachfront Hibiscus Walk extends a comforting caress of sea breeze coupled with the gentle rustling of palm leaves. This al-fresco shopping and dining hub features rows of stalls offering Malaysian street food including Penang specialties, Nyonya favourites and barbeque delicacies, not to mention a souvenir shop and a wellness centre to complete your leisurely stroll.

#11 Discover nearby attractions in Port Dickson

If you should decide to visit other places of interest in Port Dickson, Lexis Hibiscus provides free shuttles to nearby attractions – PD Ostrich Farm, the Army Museum and Regina Mall (PD Waterfront). One popular tourist site would be the Cape Rachado Lighthouse, perched on a hilly cape just four kilometres away from the resort. It is believed to be the oldest lighthouse in the country, dating back to the Portuguese rule of Malacca. Another highlight is the Army Museum, the only place in Malaysia where you’ll get to see the nation’s military achievements, uniforms, weapons and other memorabilia throughout history, all in one place.
