Lexus has unveiled a new luxurious six-seater SUV which aims to bring a lounge-like experience when it hits the road in Europe next year.

The new TZ is an electric SUV designed to offer the best possible comfort when on the move, bringing space for six and a dedicated driving mode which adjusts the car’s suspension to ‘minimise disturbance’ for those inside.

Inside, there’s a completely flat floor thanks to the TZ’s battery position low within the car, with the middle row offering two ‘captain’s chairs’ that can be adjusted. At the very back, the two rear seats bring ‘generous head and legroom’, according to Lexus, while a low seating position means that they offer more space than in a traditional combustion-engined car. Heating and ventilation functions are included in all rear seats, too.

Light enters the cabin through Lexus’ largest panoramic roof, which extends above all six seats. Up front, there’s a new Responsive Hidden Switch setup, which presents a clear screen which lights up with separate controls when a person waves their hand in front of it. A similar system is used for the steering wheel buttons, too.

A central 14-inch infotainment system works in conjunction with a 12.3-inch driver’s display to show all key information. Mapping and navigation services can be mirrored on the screen ahead of the driver, too.

Set to rival the likes of Volvo’s EX90, the new TZ will be available with a rear-steering system, helping to boost agility in low-speed environments while keeping stability high when going more quickly. All cars get all-wheel-drive as standard as well.

Lexus is claiming that the TZ’s 95.8kWh battery which unlocks a range of up to 540 km, too, while 150kW charging capacity will mean a 10 to 80 per cent charge can be conducted in around 35 minutes.

Set to be launched in Europe next year, the Lexus TZ doesn't have pricing yet. The only point of reference is the RX, currently the largest Lexus SUV in Europe. It is 20 centimetres shorter, has a conventional powertrain and already costs just under €75,000.
