Lifeboat crew honoured after dog falls into sea from harbour wall

  • North Berwick RNLI and coastguard teams received a Hero to Animals award from Peta for rescuing a dog from the sea.
  • The rescue involved a Weimaraner named Sparkle, who fell four metres off a harbour wall at Seacliff beach in East Lothian in February.
  • Sparkle's 73-year-old owner, David Hall, entered the cold water to assist his dog, holding onto her collar until rescuers arrived.
  • A second member of the public also entered the water to help during the incident.
  • Rescuers successfully recovered Sparkle from the sea and provided care to those who had entered the water, ensuring a positive outcome.
