Lightning hits wire at LRT 2’s Antipolo Station

MANILA, Philippines — Operations at Light Railway Transit (LRT)-2 have experienced temporary provisional service after a lightning strike damaged and severed a catenary wire at its Antipolo Station.

The LRT-2 management said that trips between Cubao and Antipolo stations were temporarily halted.

As a result, it said that its trains only ran between Recto Station and Araneta Center-Cubao Station and vice versa.

The Light Rail Transit Authority said shuttle vans were immediately deployed to help stranded passengers.

It said that the operations would return to full capacity once the LRT-2 technical teams would complete repairs on the power cables.
