Lilo & Stitch star Daveigh Chase died of Aids, coroner says

  • Daveigh Chase, the actor known for The Ring and for voicing Lilo in Lilo & Stitch, died on June 16 at the age of 35.
  • Her official cause of death has been confirmed by the L.A. County Medical Examiner as acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (Aids), the most advanced stage of HIV.
  • Chronic polysubstance use, involving the repeated use of two or more drugs, was listed as a significant contributing factor to her death.
  • Her mother revealed Chase had struggled with drug addiction and homelessness for years, disappearing after prison stints and being “out of her mind” due to drugs.
  • Chase's addiction reportedly began after a 2016 motorcycle accident led to painkiller use, with her former manager also noting her long-standing struggles with sobriety.
