TAWAU: Datuk Lim Teck Kiong, the President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Tawau (FCAT), was appointed as the commanding officer of the 516th Regiment of the Territorial Army for East Coast Sabah to replace the retired Brigadier General (B) Tan Sri Datuk Liew Yun Fah (JP).
He was conferred the rank at the appointment ceremony for senior army officers, honorary and volunteer army officers at Wisma Perwira, Kuala Lumpur, recently. It was officiated by the Chief of Army, General Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Zamrose bin Mohd Zain.
Zamrose called for more non-Bumiputeras to join the Malaysian Army through Territorial Army as the reserved forces play vital roles in preserving the sovereignty of the country.
Lim, a businessman, actively participates in charity programmes.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude to Brigadier General (B) Tan Sri Datuk Liew Yun Fah (JP) for his efforts and contributions to the 516th Regiment of the Territorial Army for East Coast Sabah.
“I will uphold his struggles and continue to lead the troupe to provide better services for the people, society and the country,” he added.
FCAT currently has 45 Chinese associations with more than 10,000 members.
