Recently, YDP Agong, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim said any individual who rejects the principles of the Rukun Negara is not worthy of being regarded as a Malaysian citizen.
YDP Agong should be rest assured that every Malaysian, regardless of ethinicity and religious leaning showed deep respect, support, and love for the nation and YDP Agong.
All Malaysians know and are aware that YDP Agong is a symbol of unity, uniting all Malaysians, regardless of their ethinicity and religious leanings.
Except for those criminals who don’t follow the laws, every one respect the constitution i.e the Rukun Negara.
Nothing demonstrate the loyalty of every Malaysian to the YDP Agong and to the country more than in a sporting event when a Malaysian or a Malaysian team play, be it football or badminton, cycling, swimming, motor racing, squash etc just to name a few.
Every single Malaysian will stand up and root for the individual or team and shout themselves hoarse supporting the individual or the team.
A moment where all Malaysians comes together and unite as one big team.
However, when politicians constantly demand that Malaysians of non Malay descent be thankful for their citizenship, it is indeed troubling.
This dynamic undermines a core democratic principle: the government exists to serve the people, not the other way around.
Politicians probably conveniently forgets that the ordinary rakyat are their bosses.
It is the ordinary rakyat who pay taxes to fund the government.
Leaders work for the public.
When politicians demand gratitude, they pretend that basic rights—like voting and free speech—are special gifts given by the state.
When politicians say Malaysians should just be "happy with what they have," they use gratitude to silence valid complaints.
Imagine a car mechanic who tells you to be thankful the car starts, rather than fixing the brakes that are broken.
oliticians often use this tactic to divide the public.
They label citizens who demand better services or fairer laws as "ungrateful" or "unpatriotic."
This is a way to avoid fixing real problems and keep themselves in power.
In essence, the politicians are the ones who rejects the principles of the Rukun Negara.
