The opening of Apple's first store in Kuala Lumpur's Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) mall yesterday drew massive crowds of eager fans. However, just hours after the grand opening, online marketplaces were flooded with listings for the store's limited-edition giveaway tote bags, sparking outrage among Apple enthusiasts.

A reporter investigating a popular online trading platform discovered numerous individuals attempting to sell their Apple limited-edition tote bags, with one seller asking an astonishing RM5200. Most other sellers listed prices ranging from RM200 to RM500.

These exclusive bags were only available to customers who managed to enter the Apple Store on its opening day, making them highly sought-after.

The exorbitant prices have led many netizens to criticize what they see as an extreme example of profiteering in the local resale market. "These were supposed to be complimentary gifts from the store, and now people are reselling them for outrageous amounts. It's just greedy," one user commented.

Many expressed frustration that those reselling the bags were not true Apple fans but opportunists looking to make a quick profit. "Real Apple fans would never sell these limited-edition items," another user noted. "Its clear that some people queued up early not to buy Apple products but to snag the freebies and resell them."

The backlash highlights the discontent among genuine fans, who feel that the scalpers are undermining the spirit of the special event by turning it into a money-making scheme.
