
Kota Kinabalu: The collective effort of the 15 Lions Clubs in Sabah and Labuan in combating drug abuse among youth deserves support to ensure the success of their drug awareness campaign, says Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
She made this assertion during a courtesy call by a delegation led by Organising Chairperson Alyssa Lim to brief the Minister on Lions Clubs International Drug Awareness movie screening initiative on.

Lim, who is the Past President of Lions Club of KK Downtown, said this significant event would be held on March 21 at 8pm at the Glory Christian Centre, here, with an expected attendance of 2,000 youths from across Sabah.

Read more Briefing the Minister on the objectives, the Organising Chairperson said this screening marks the launch of Phase One of the Lions Clubs’ Drug Awareness Campaign, which will spread through Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, and Tawau over six days, featuring 10-12 free shows.
“We estimate reaching out to 6,000 to 7,000 youths during this phase. Our goals are to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its destructive effects on individuals, families and society, and to foster informed conversations revolving around drug prevention and healthy lifestyle choices among youth, parents, and educators,” Lim added.

“A safer, healthier Sabah will not only benefit our youth but also enhance Sabah’s reputation as a desirable and family-friendly travel destination. “By fostering a positive environment, we can reinforce our state’s commitment to community wellness, safety, and a sustainable tourism growth,” she said, while assuring the organisers of her Ministry’s support for a drug-free Sabah.
