Shri Renukaji is a place of deep religious faith and liquor consumption is strictly prohibited there.

Religious sentiments were allegedly hurt over liquor consumption at a marriage function held at the mela ground in Shri Renukaji in Sirmaur district, prompting the police to register a case and initiate an investigation. According to Anuj Tomar, Range Forest Officer, Shri Renukaji, a case was registered on the basis of a complaint submitted to the police. The complainant stated that the Divisional Forest Officer, Renukaji, had granted temporary permission to Harish Kumar, a resident of Dadahu, for organising a marriage ceremony at the mela ground on May 4 and 5.

After the conclusion of the event, information surfaced on social media alleging that liquor was consumed at the venue during the function. Since Shri Renukaji is considered a place of deep religious faith and liquor consumption is strictly prohibited there, the incident made devotees and local residents angry.

A case of hurting religious sentiments was registered at the the Renukaji police station and an investigation was launched. The police stated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in activities that hurt religious sentiments in this sacred place.

SP Nishchint Singh Negi appealed to people to refrain from indulging in acts that may disturb the religious sanctity of the region or hurt public sentiments.
