Lisandro Martinez pleaded with Ajax on Monday to grant him his wish to move to the Premier League.

Arsenal and Manchester United have both been in contact with Ajax about a deal for the Argentina defender.

The Gunners have failed with three offers for the 23-year-old, while United have also been unsuccessful in their attempts.

Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign the 5ft 9in international who can play left back, centre half and also midfield.

Arteta's counterpart ten Hag worked closely with Martinez in Amsterdam and wants the combative defender to join him at Old Trafford.

According to The Mirror, Martinez has made a personal plea with Ajax to sanction a transfer.

Although he is grateful for his career at Ajax, Martinez is flustered by their repeated attempts to rebuff the two Premier League clubs.
