Lithuania is to invite Ukrainian specialists to Vilnius for consultations on drone defence after a series of incidents involving Ukrainian drones penetrating the Baltic republic's airspace.
"We will invite them to Lithuania to evaluate our work thus far and the paths taken, so that we do not continue to make mistakes," Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas said, according to Lithuanian media reports.
Kaunas was speaking following a meeting in Vilnius with Ukrainian presidential office chief Kyrylo Budanov, who offered Ukraine's assistance.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha earlier offered to send drone experts to Lithuania.
In recent weeks, Ukrainian forces have attacked Russian oil export ports on the Gulf of Finland and other targets in north-western Russia across the border from Lithuania. These drones have on occasion strayed into the airspace of the Baltic republics and come down without thus far causing injury or major damage.
Budanov said that Ukraine was not targeting Lithuanian territory with its drones and that all attacks were directed at Russian targets.
Kaunas also stressed that the Baltic republics were not the target, but that the drones strayed after jamming or losing their way. He blamed Russia for starting the war and not Ukraine.
