Bug Hall, who starred as Alfalfa in the beloved 1994 film The Little Rascals, has started a GoFundMe to appeal for help with his rapidly expanding family.
41-year-old Hall, whose real name is Brandon Rowan, made headlines earlier this year when he opened up about his decision to flee Hollywood and live off-grid, becoming a self-described “radical Catholic extremist.”
Now, he’s reaching out to friends, family and fans to ask for financial support.
On the GoFundMe page, Hall wrote: “It's now six years since I self-cancelled, and I have avoided doing one of these in all that time. I always said this was my choice, and so I didn't want to offload the glorious burden of it unless there was no other choice. Well here we are.”
He continued: “We've made it onto the new land in record time, but I'm a few materials short of having things working right, and I've fallen a little behind on the few bills we have (phone, propane for the camper, and an unexpected electric hookup service fee).”
Hall went on to say that while his family is “overjoyed to be where we are” and “even enjoying roughing it”, financial realities are hitting hard.
“Baby six is less than a month away, and I really need some help getting the last few things buttoned up beforehand,” he wrote.
Hall concluded his appeal: “My hope is to finalize everything here over the next two weeks so I can take some work until the baby arrives. Times are hard for everyone, and I'm no more deserving than anyone else, but I ask in your charity that you help where you can, whether monetarily, by sharing this, or by prayer and sacrifice for the Hall-Barnetts of the Holy Cross.”
Hall left Hollywood in 2020 along with his wife and five kids, moving to Texas, Michigan, and Ohio, before settling on an 80-acre plot of land near Mountain View, Arkansas.
According to reports earlier this year, the former child star had taken a vow of poverty and gave away the fortune he made from his acting career. He also sold most of his belongings ahead of plans to build their “off grid” family home complete with its own electric and plumbing systems.
Hall described himself as a “radical Catholic extremist” and “medieval moralist” in a video he posted to his public YouTube channel in April 2025. His worldview has been praised by followers of the so-called “trad Cath” movement.
