Liverpool attacker Cody Gakpo feels ready for tomorrow's Champions League showdown with Real Madrid.
Gakpo was speaking today ahead of the round 16 first-leg.
First goal:
"It is a great feeling to score the first goal knowing that it was a key match, since it was a derby. It was a good way to start my scoring account. I want to perform well and continue playing at a high level."
Experience:
"As a team we are ready. We want to play well and move on to quarters. We really want it."
Premier League:
"We had a difficult streak, but we have won two games. We are fine and we must continue winning."
Team moment:
"We always want to win. When you start a winning streak the atmosphere is different. You have to be positive and try to improve the game. We have played better. The intensity has been higher and it is important to keep this."
Madrid difficulties:
"There is a lot at stake, but we want to show that we are a good team. You have to win the round trip and then the return."
Greater challenge:
"You have to adapt to a different environment. I am a guy that the general package is important to me."
Teammates:
"They are amazing, they have helped me from day one. Also Klopp with a perfect deal."
The Champions:
"It will be my second game in Champions League. I am very eager and excited. I have to demonstrate that I am capable of surrendering to this level. It is one of the best tournaments in the world. It is a dream to play in this competition and for me it is very important. You have to focus on tomorrow's game."
Liverpool improvement:
"It is difficult to specify what we have changed. When you don't win everything is more complicated. We are fine, we have come together as a group and it is important. We must continue improving."
Klopp's role:
"When the results are complicated you have to face it. This is one of the virtues of this team. You have to help yourself in difficult times. When we start a victory streak we can show that we are fine again."
Position:
"The last three years I played for the left wing, but in the World Cup I also did it in the middle. I spoke to Klopp and he advised me to play left or centre. I think I'm improving."
