Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has launched into yet another tirade to defend his star signing.

The German, whose team are near the top of the Premier League, hit out at Darwin Nunez's critics this week.

The Uruguayan forward has not enjoyed the best of times since arriving from Benfica over a year ago.

For Darwin, it is not important if he starts in the center or left," he told reporters about choosing to play Nunez out wide, even though he is a center forward.

He can play there, there is no doubt. For us, it's just important that we have different opportunities.

I thought he did really well tonight. He defended on that side, he was a real handful again. I like that. Darwin is this threat for in behind. A bit unlucky again with the post, but besides that, a really good game in the last line.

When we start like this like we start today, with two players who are probably a little bit more dropping into the 10 position. But then if you have Dom on the other side and Joey (Joe Gomez) who offers the runs in behind, it's all fine again.

I know in the moment, second in the league, which is not that bad, but because we have to talk every day about us, you make stories up and all of a sudden from everything is fine, after a 0-0 we start discussing who is not scoring and the frontline is not firing.

If I were to read all these things, I get told sometimes that it's a story. I look at the headlines and just think, 'Oh my god.' I really feel for you all that you have to make these stories up. For us, we are just trying to be as good as we can with all our human weaknesses.

So far it's not that bad, tonight it was really good. But for Saturday, we have to step up another 40, 50, 60 percent. Arsenal is incredibly strong and a difficult opponent. We just have to try and be difficult as well."
