Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is surprised by Tottenham's problems this season.
The Reds meet Spurs, now under caretaker manager Ryan Mason, on Sunday.
Klopp said: "This is a season where many things have been difficult for many teams. It's not good for us, but it opens doors for other teams.
"Small mistakes during the season can have big consequences.
"The team they (Tottenham) have is still exceptional. I have no idea why it didn't work for them. They were the best attacking team in Europe for several years. I expect them to be really good."
