Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists he wants James Milner to stay.
The 37 year-old utility is off contract at the end of the season.
Klopp said on Friday: "We have different plans for Milly, but he wants to keep playing.
"When you saw him play the other day (in the FA Cup against Wolves), everyone can understand that desire.
"You can't judge him in the normal way based on his age. He is 37, but that's not how it looks in training. He is a very important player, and so was the Wolves.
" I'm pretty sure the club should use his character and mindset, because it's really special."
