Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk admitted relief after their 1-1 draw at Luton Town.
An injury-time equaliser from substitute Luis Diaz earned the Reds the point.
Van Dijk said: "I think we made it very difficult for ourselves.
"It was always going to be difficult coming here, we have seen it with other teams coming here. You have to make it a bit easier for yourself and scoring a goal helps, it changes the dynamic of the game.
"They only need one moment and to be fair they did it very well."
Asked what could Liverpool have done better, he continued: "Finishing of the chances. If we scored the first chance we had in the first half it would have completely changed the game. It is part of football.
"We could definitely do better at times but it is a difficult place to come. They are very compact and direct with a lot of strength in the air and you have to be ready for that.
"We could have made it a lot easier for ourselves."
