
Paul Doyle sentenced to 21.5 years for driving into Liverpool fans celebrating a Premier League win, injuring 134 people in May.
A man who drove into a crowd of celebrating Liverpool football fans has been sentenced to 21.5 years in prison.
Paul Doyle, 54, was convicted on 31 counts of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving.
The incident occurred in May when Doyle drove into fans marking Liverpool’s victory in the British Premier League.
Merseyside Police confirmed the sentence was handed down at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday.
A total of 134 people were injured as a result of the crash.
Authorities did not treat the incident as an act of terrorism, investigating it as a criminal matter.
Police initially stated the detainee was suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
Doyle had been charged by British prosecutors in August.
