Liverpool hero John Aldridge doesn't believe they're strong enough to win the Premier League this season.

The Reds are top of the table, but Aldridge is unconvinced.

He wrote for the Sunday World: "Liverpool have lost just one of their first 19 Premier League matches this season, and that was the ridiculous defeat at Tottenham when the match officials and the VAR clowns were wearing Spurs shirts!

"Last weekend's thrilling 1-1 draw against Arsenal highlighted the great strides forward Liverpool have taken this season, but there are a few reasons why I'm still not convinced this team are ready to win the title.

"In the one season when Liverpool were crowned champions under Klopp, they had a stunning 55 points after 19 matches, 13 more than they have right now.

"It highlights the standards the 2019/20 team reached and the level you need to attain to knock Manchester City off their perch. I'm afraid this Liverpool team are not at that level yet.

"Let's not forget that this is a transitional season after so many signings last summer, so it makes Liverpool's position as title challengers all the more impressive."
