Liverpool have reportedly not lost interest in Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries, even after failing to land him during the January window.

The Reds were said to have reached out about a deal for Dumfries late in the window, following injuries to both Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley.

Inter weren’t interested in letting him go at the time, especially since he’d only just returned from three months out with injury.

He made his comeback against Bodo/Glimt this week, and with Liverpool still looking to add depth at right-back, reports in Italy suggest they could return with another offer soon.

Dumfries’ situation is one to watch this summer, according to TuttomercatoWeb.

The former PSV Eindhoven defender will reportedly see his £22m release clause become active again in July.

TMW suggests the clause doesn’t offer Inter much protection, given its low value for a player who has been a steady presence since his 2021 arrival.

Liverpool’s interest remains, having made efforts to sign him late in January.

Earlier this week, other Italian reports indicated that Dumfries’ agent is pushing for a move to the Premier League. Given Liverpool’s previous attempts, another bid wouldn’t be out of the question.

On the other hand, Dumfries will turn 30 in April, and while he has been described as ‘relentless’ for Inter, there may be concerns that his recent injury could signal the start of a decline.
