Liverpool could be close to finding their next manager after Jurgen Klopp departs.
The Reds have now appointed Michael Edwards as their CEO of Football for the coming years.
They are now set to hire a sporting director and a head coach in the next few months.
Per the Liverpool Echo, the Reds will now make a formal approach for Xabi Alonso from Bayer Leverkusen.
While they do have competition for his signature in the form of Bayern Munich, the Reds are confident of landing their man.
The goal is to ensure that Alonso feels he will have a great support system around him at the club.
