Sheffield United could face losing Norway international Sander Berge in the coming days.
The central midfielder is being linked with a move to Premier League giants Liverpool.
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp admitted the club will try to sign a midfielder before the transfer window closes.
According to the Yorkshire Post, Berge has a £35 million release clause, which Liverpool may activate.
The 24-year-old would want to make the move back to the top flight, which means the Blades would have little chance of keeping him.
Klopp has admired Berge ever since he was playing for Genk in Belgium.
