Liverpool, West Ham crash out of Europa League

TWO English clubs – Liverpool and West Ham United – crashed out of the Europa League after last night’s games.

Liverpool won 1-0 against Atalanta but that wasn’t enough to overturn their quarter-final deficit.

German champions Bayer Leverkusen drew 1-1 with West Ham to make their way into the semi-finals.

Fresh from their first Bundesliga title last weekend, Leverkusen survived a scare from West Ham before advancing 3-1 on aggregate.

In the semi-finals, Xabi Alonso’s side will play Roma, who saw off Italian rivals AC Milan 3-1 on aggregate while Marseille will face Atlanta.

In the Conference League, Aston Villa will play Olympiacos while Belgium’s Club Brugge take on Italy’s Fiorentina. – April 11, 2024.
