
For the livestock sub-sector, Masidi said the State Government also allocates RM99.05 million for operation expenditure and implementation of 43 development projects aimed at enhancing the food security of premium livestock products and elevating food safety standards.
In addition, he said various programmes are implemented to support entrepreneurs in the livestock industry in order to improve their production efficiency and income.
He said the Rural Development Corporations (KPD) which has been allocated RM21 million also supports the Government’s efforts to implement food security programmes especially chicken production through broiler and free-range chicken farming.
This effort will have an impact on increasing the domestic production of agriculture and food as well as providing employment opportunities and additional income to a total of 1,580 rural participants in the B40 group, he said.
“Besides collaborating with smallholder farmers and livestock breeders, collaboration and participation of State Public Agencies are encouraged. Thus far, the Sabah Land Development Board (SLDB) has shown its commitment to this effort.
