Local Businesswoman Fined RM32,500 For Possessing 65 Counterfeit Gucci Bags

In Kuala Lumpur's Sessions Court today, a 31-year-old businesswoman, Jenny Chen, received a fine of RM32,500 or six months' imprisonment in default for being in possession of 65 counterfeit Gucci bags last year.

Judge Norina Zainol Abidin imposed the penalty after Chen pleaded guilty to the offense. The incident took place on February 27th last year at a location in Lorong Haji Taib 3, Off Jalan Raja Laut, around 1:10 pm.

Chen was charged under Section 102(1)(c) of the Trademark Act 2019, related to selling goods with falsely applied trademarks. The charge specifies a penalty not exceeding RM10,000 or a maximum imprisonment of three years for each item, or both, upon conviction.
