PENAMPANG: Local contractors must prepare themselves to seize available opportunities in Sabah’s oil and gas (O&G) industry, said Deputy Chief Minister cum State Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).
He said the sector holds significant potential to offer various high-value contract and employment opportunities to local industry players.
According to him, numerous contracts are being offered by international and local oil and gas firms operating in Sabah, but local contractors must ensure they possess the capacity to meet industry requirements.
“Local contractors need to equip themselves technically, enhance their skills, and boost their capabilities so they can compete and secure projects in the oil and gas industry,” he said when met after officiating the 27th Sabah Malaysian Malay Contractors Association (PKMM) Annual General Meeting here on Tuesday.
He added that enhancing the capability of local contractors is vital to ensure more benefits from the development of the O&G sector are enjoyed locally while contributing to Sabah’s economic growth.
